
Planetum is a new entertainment and science brand created for the transformation of Prague’s observatories and planetarium network. The project accompanied the renovation and reopening of the largest LED screen dome in Europe, introducing a new generation immersive astronomy experience.

The Prague Observatory and Planetarium institutions were undergoing a major transformation, including the introduction of a next-generation LED dome capable of delivering immersive visual experiences.
Create a brand capable of representing multiple institutions while positioning Planetum as a modern destination for science, entertainment and discovery.
Matbold developed the name Planetum and a visual identity inspired by planetary motion and orbital systems, reflecting the immersive nature of the new experience.
The visual system combines circular geometry, dynamic motion and cosmic symbolism, creating a brand language designed to work across exhibitions, digital platforms and cultural programming.
Planetum introduces a contemporary identity for Prague’s astronomy institutions while supporting the launch of one of Europe’s most advanced immersive science environments.
Two observatories. One planetarium. Now all gravitating under one new central force – Planetum. By redirecting their brand strategy with new naming, an entertaining visual identity, and a complete Brand Design System, Matbold opened a new door of entertainment to an old fashioned brand.
